These are the terms for using Storytime, the children's storybook app made by BEK SERVICE LTD (registered in England and Wales). By downloading or using Storytime you agree to these terms. They are deliberately short and written in plain English so a parent can read them in a minute.
1. What Storytime is
Storytime is a reading app for children. Version 1.0 contains a small free library of AI-generated children's stories, with text, illustrations, and audio narration, available in 30 languages. The app runs fully offline after install — no account, no sign-in, no internet required to read.
Future versions (1.1 and later) will add more stories through an optional paid subscription. Those will be covered by these same terms, with any subscription-specific detail added in an update to this document when they ship.
2. Your licence to use Storytime
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Storytime on devices you own or control, for your own family's non-commercial enjoyment.
You may:
- install Storytime on your family's devices (the number of devices is controlled by Apple's and Google's normal "shared with your family" rules);
- let your child read the stories as often as they like;
- read aloud from the app to a class, library story-time, or other non-commercial gathering of children.
You may not:
- copy, redistribute, re-upload, re-publish, or sell the app or any of its content;
- extract the story text, illustrations, or audio to package them into another product, dataset, or service;
- use the stories, illustrations, or audio to train a machine-learning model or to fine-tune one;
- rent, lease, or resell access to the app;
- put the content on a public-facing website in a way that lets people read it without installing the app.
The stories, illustrations, and audio in Storytime were generated for this app and are not placed in the public domain. They are copyrighted works owned by BEK SERVICE LTD. Your licence is to enjoy them inside Storytime, not to redistribute them.
3. No warranty
We build Storytime with care, but we provide it "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose;
- we do not guarantee that the narration or translation of every story is free of imperfections (AI-generated content can occasionally mispronounce a word or phrase things a little oddly);
- we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from using the app.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
4. Age
Storytime is designed for children to read. Setting up the device on which Storytime runs, and accepting the Apple App Store or Google Play Store terms of service, requires an adult (typically 13 years old or over, depending on the store's own rules). If you are a parent or guardian, you are responsible for the device your child uses Storytime on and for supervising their use.
5. Prohibited behaviour
Regardless of anything else in these terms, you agree not to:
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the minimum extent allowed by mandatory local law;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security or content-protection feature;
- extract the bundled or downloaded content for redistribution, archiving outside your own device, or inclusion in another product;
- use Storytime, or any content from it, in any commercial product, advertising, training dataset, or derivative work;
- attempt to access parts of the app or any future Storytime server that are not intended for public use.
6. If we have to end your licence
We may suspend or end your licence if you materially break these terms (for example, by re-uploading our stories elsewhere). If that happens we will try to tell you why, unless we're legally prevented from doing so. You can end your licence at any time by uninstalling the app.
7. Apple and Google as the platforms
Storytime is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Those stores have their own terms that also apply. In particular:
- Apple's "Licensed Application End User License Agreement" (the standard EULA) applies to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS installs. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of that EULA.
- Google Play's terms apply to Android installs.
If anything in those platform terms conflicts with these terms in a way that Apple or Google requires to take priority, the platform term wins for that install.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally — for example, when we add paid content. If we do, we will change the "Effective date" at the top and announce the change in the app's store listing release notes.

10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute that cannot be resolved between us will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, except that if you live in another jurisdiction, you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in your local courts under the consumer-protection rules that apply there — these terms do not override those rights.
