Privacy Policy
Pricelux collects no personal data. Not some data — none. This page explains what the app does instead, including the one thing it genuinely needs and which sounds alarming until it is explained: permission to read every website.
Why it asks for every website
Prices appear anywhere — a shop, a hotel page, an airline, a forum post. There is no list of sites that would cover it, so the part of Pricelux that runs inside Safari is allowed to run on any page. Safari does not grant this automatically: you choose Allow on Every Website yourself, and you can withdraw it at any time, or switch the app off for one site from its own menu.
What that permission is used for is narrow. Pricelux looks at text already visible on the page in order to find things shaped like prices, and it reads the page's declared currency so that a bare $ is interpreted correctly. It does not read form fields, passwords, cookies or page addresses, and it does not send the page, or anything found on it, anywhere.
Data we collect
None. There is no account to create, no analytics framework, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter and no identifier of any kind.
Data stored on your Mac
Your settings — the currencies you picked, hover or inline, your card fee, what an ambiguous symbol should mean, and any sites you switched the app off for — are stored on your own Mac by Safari, in the extension's own storage. So is the cached table of exchange rates. None of it is uploaded. Removing the app removes it.
Network connections
Pricelux makes requests to two addresses, and to nothing else:
- open.er-api.com — the current exchange rate table, fetched at most twice a day.
- api.frankfurter.dev — European Central Bank reference rates, used as a fallback and for the thirty-day chart.
Both requests ask for a rate table. Neither carries an identifier, an account, a page address or anything else about you — the request is the same whoever makes it, and the reply is the same for everyone. The prices you hover are converted on your own Mac using the table that came back.
Third parties
Pricelux contains no third-party SDKs. The two rate providers above receive an ordinary web request for a public file and learn nothing about you beyond what any web server sees from any visitor. They are credited inside the app and on its App Store page.
Children
Pricelux is suitable for all ages and, since it collects nothing, it collects nothing from children either.
Your rights
Rights such as access, correction and erasure apply to data a company holds about you. We hold none. If you write to us by email, we use your address solely to reply, and we delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will appear on this page with a new date above. If a future version of the app were ever to collect anything, we would say so here and in the App Store privacy label before it shipped.
