WooCommerce Returns Portal

Returns without the e-mail ping-pong, for UK and EU WooCommerce shops

Returnwell gives your shop a proper returns page. Customers ask for a return with their order number and e-mail, you approve it in one click, and every step is e-mailed and noted on the order. Free, with no limits.

What Returnwell does

Every return in one place, from request to refund.

Self-service returns page

Customers enter their order number and the e-mail they used at checkout, choose the items and quantities and pick a reason for each. Logged-in customers get a Return button in My Account.

The 14-day window, worked out

The return period counts from delivery, payment or the order date and ends at midnight in your time zone. It is 14 days by default, the minimum most UK and EU customers are entitled to, and you can make it longer.

Items that cannot go back

Mark single products or whole categories as not returnable, such as sealed hygiene goods or personalised items. Quantities already refunded or in another return cannot be asked for twice.

Approve in one click

WooCommerce → Returns lists every request. Approve or decline with a message, mark the parcel received, and the return is marked refunded when you refund the order in WooCommerce.

A written confirmation every time

The customer gets a confirmation e-mail straight away with the date and time of the request, then an e-mail at each step. They are WooCommerce e-mails, so they use your shop's design.

Built properly

Works with WooCommerce's order storage (HPOS). Guest links are signed and expire, lookups are rate-limited, and personal data can be exported and erased with the WordPress privacy tools.

How it works

Set up in five minutes, no code

Install and activate

A Returns page is created for you. Add it to your menu or footer, or link to it from your returns policy.

Set your rules

Choose the return period, the reasons customers can pick, the categories that cannot be returned, your return instructions and your return address.

Answer requests

You get an e-mail for each new request. Open it under WooCommerce → Returns, approve it, and the customer gets your instructions straight away.

Frequently asked questions

Does it make the refund for me?

No. You refund the order in WooCommerce as you do today, so the payment goes back through your payment provider. Returnwell then marks the return refunded by itself.

Can guests ask for a return?

Yes, with their order number and the e-mail address used at checkout. You can switch this off so that only logged-in customers can ask.

My order numbers are not the order IDs. Will the lookup work?

Yes, if your order-number plugin keeps WooCommerce's order number in sync. Developers can also use the returnwell_find_order filter.

What happens after the return period?

The customer sees the date it ended and cannot send a new request. You can still accept a return outside the period by hand, as you do today.

Can I change the e-mails?

Yes. Each one is under WooCommerce → Settings → Emails with its own subject, heading and extra text. To change the layout, copy templates/emails/returnwell-request.php into your theme's woocommerce/emails folder.

Does it work with the block checkout?

Yes. Returnwell does not change the checkout at all.
