- Preferences: Reminder schedule (wake time, sleep time, interval), daily water goal, unit system (metric or imperial), Senior Mode setting, and container settings — used to personalise your experience.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Calculating your recommended daily water intake based on your profile
- Tracking and displaying your daily, weekly, and monthly water consumption
- Sending local reminder notifications at your preferred times
- Displaying progress on the home screen widget
3. Data Storage
All data is stored locally on your device using the app's private local database. Specifically:
- Data is stored in the app's private storage area, inaccessible to other apps
- No data is uploaded to any cloud service or remote server
- Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all stored data
4. Advertising — Google AdMob
The app uses Google AdMob to display banner advertisements. AdMob may collect and use certain information to serve ads, including:
- Advertising ID: The device Advertising ID (which you can reset or opt out of in your device settings)
- Device information: Device model, operating system version, and screen size
- Ad interaction data: Information about ads viewed and clicked
This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to any personally identifiable information collected by AdMob.
The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent before serving personalised ads, in compliance with GDPR and similar regulations.
5. Data Sharing
The only third-party service integrated in the app is Google AdMob for displaying advertisements (see Section 4). The app does not contain analytics SDKs, social media integrations, or crash reporting services.

The app requests the following permissions, each for a specific purpose:

- Notifications: To send water drinking reminders at scheduled times
- Exact Alarms: To deliver reminders precisely at the times you set
- Boot Completed: To restore your reminder schedule after device restart
- Vibration: To vibrate your device when a reminder notification is delivered
- Battery Optimisation: To request exemption from battery optimisation so reminders are delivered reliably
7. Opting Out of Personalised Ads
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by adjusting your device settings:
- Android: Go to Settings → Google → Ads, and enable "Opt out of Ads Personalisation" or "Delete advertising ID."
Opting out does not remove ads from the app — it means the ads shown will be less relevant to your interests.
8. Children's Privacy
Water Reminder does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation and does not collect any data beyond what is described in this policy. All data remains on the device.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data remains on your device for as long as the app is installed. You can delete all your data at any time by:
- Clearing the app's data through your device's Settings → Apps → Water Reminder → Clear Data
- Uninstalling the app, which permanently removes all stored data
10. Security
All personal health data is stored in the app's private storage, protected by the Android operating system's sandboxing. Internet connectivity is used only for loading advertisements and is never used to transmit your personal data.
11. Your Rights (UK GDPR / GDPR)
If you are located in the United Kingdom or European Union, you have the following rights regarding your data:
- Right to Access: You can view all data the app holds about you at any time within the app itself.
- Right to Deletion: You can delete all your data by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You can withdraw consent for personalised advertising at any time by resetting your device's Advertising ID (Settings → Google → Ads).
- Right to Object: You may object to the processing of your data for advertising purposes. Withdrawing consent will not affect the app's core functionality.
