Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Slink does with your information. It is written to be read, not to be survived: if a section is missing below, it is because that kind of data is not involved at all.

What we collect

Slink collects only what it needs to run the VPN. When you first open the app, it creates an anonymous device identifier, which is checked with Apple App Attest (or Google Play Integrity on Android) so that only the genuine Slink app can connect. You do not need an account: we never ask for your name, email address or phone number.

Your plan and purchases: the App Store or Google Play transaction identifiers and your subscription status, so we can unlock Slink Unlimited or Remove Ads. Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details.

Minimal session accounting: for each connection, when it started, how long it lasted, how much data it moved (bytes up and down), and which protocol and server were used. We use it only to run the free daily hour and protect the service's capacity, and we delete it after 7 days.

If you contact support (from the app or by email), we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to attach, such as the diagnostic log — app and connection events, the app version, your device model and the anonymous device identifier, never the sites you visit. We use it only to answer you.

What we never collect

Slink keeps no activity logs. We do not record your browsing history, the websites or apps you use, your DNS queries, the destination IP addresses or domains you connect to, or the content of your traffic. We do not record your location or contacts.

We do not sell, use, or disclose to any third party any data obtained through the VPN service, for any purpose.

Analytics and crash reports

Slink uses Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand, in aggregate, which features are used and to find the cause of crashes. These services receive an app-instance identifier, device and app version information and usage events. They are not used for advertising.

Analytics and crash reporting run only in the Slink app, never inside the VPN tunnel: they never see your traffic, the sites you visit or the servers you connect through, and the events we send never include your session or device identifier. You can switch both off in Settings › Privacy. If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging receives a notification token so we can send them; you can turn notifications off in your device settings.

Advertising

Slink shows advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. To serve and measure those ads, Google may process device information such as a device advertising identifier, general location inferred from an IP address, and basic interaction data. This processing is carried out by Google, not by us, under Google's own privacy policy.

Where you have given permission on the App Tracking Transparency prompt, ads may be personalised using an advertising identifier. Declining that prompt does not remove the ads; it makes them non-personalised. You can change the choice at any time in your device's privacy settings.

Ads are shown only while Slink is disconnected, and the advertising SDK never sees your VPN traffic.

Purchases

Slink offers in-app purchases. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see or store your payment details. The app receives only a confirmation that a purchase is valid, so it can unlock what you bought.

Deleting your data

You can delete your data at any time in the app: Account › Delete account & data. This deletes your device identifier, your plan bindings and all session accounting. Deleting your data does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription — cancel it in your store account settings.

Keeping your data safe

Data that stays on your device is protected by your device's own security. Where the app does communicate over the network, it does so over an encrypted connection.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you — the anonymous device identifier, plan bindings and session accounting described above — and to object to its processing. Contact us and we will answer; you can also delete your data from within the app.
