Who we are
dbLogger is published by BEK SERVICE LTD, 20-22 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU, United Kingdom (Company No. 12590587). Contact: [email protected].
On-device by design
dbLogger is a measurement tool that works without an account and without a cloud service. Your microphone audio and the measurements computed from it are processed on your device. The app does not upload your audio, recordings, logs, or reports. They leave your device only when you choose to share or export them.
Microphone
dbLogger uses the microphone (built-in or an external USB-C measurement microphone) solely to measure sound in real time. Audio is recorded only when you turn on logging/recording, and those files are stored locally on your device under your control.
Location (optional)
If you enable “Include location in reports,” dbLogger reads your current location to stamp a report with the address and coordinates where a measurement was taken. This is off by default. To turn coordinates into a readable address, your device’s operating system reverse-geocoding service is used. Location data is stored only in the local session/report and leaves your device only if you share that report. You can disable this at any time in Settings or your OS privacy settings.
Advertising
dbLogger is free and shows a single banner advertisement supplied by Google AdMob. You can remove the banner permanently with a one-time in-app purchase. To serve ads, AdMob may process device and advertising identifiers and similar data in line with Google’s Privacy Policy. Where required (e.g. the EEA, UK), we present a consent choice (and, on iOS, Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt); if you decline, only non-personalised ads are requested. AdMob never receives your audio, measurements, logs, or reports.
Analytics & diagnostics
dbLogger uses Firebase Crashlytics (Google) for crash and diagnostics reporting. It collects only pseudonymous stability data (e.g. crash traces and basic device/app info) and never any audio or measurement content. It is used solely to keep the app reliable, and you can opt out in Settings. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
Purchases
The one-time “Remove Ads” purchase is processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive or store your payment details.
Children
dbLogger is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
Because dbLogger holds no personal data on any server of ours, there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf. You control all measurement data on your device and can delete it in-app. You can manage ad consent in Settings and manage app permissions in your device settings. Depending on your region (UK/EU GDPR, CCPA), you may have additional rights regarding data processed by Google for advertising — see Google’s policy linked above.
Data retention
We retain no personal data server-side. Recordings, logs and reports remain on your device until you delete them.
Accuracy notice
A smartphone microphone is not a certified Class 1/2 (IEC 61672) sound level meter. dbLogger targets reproducible, calibrated relative measurement with standards-correct weighting and rating math. For regulatory or compliance decisions, verify with certified instrumentation.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
